DramFest 2027 marks the 10th anniversary of the event, spanning 20 years since its inception in 2007. In the coming months we will reveal more about the upcoming DramFest.
Visiting Experts
DramFest is a unique opportunity to meet with overseas and local spirit experts including distillers, owners and brand ambassadors attending the event - these visiting experts are for many the highlight of the event, offering the chance to interact with those who are directly involved with the creation, selection and promotion of some of the whiskies on offer.
Exclusive Bottlings
Since its inception in 2007, DramFest has offered a number of special, limited edition releases for each event. 2027 is our 10th birthday celebration, and we are planning something very special. We’ll share more details about this later this year.
The Main Event
At the heart of DramFest is our main event. An showcase of whisky & dark spirit exhibitors from distilleries, producers and independent bottlers from Scotland, New Zealand and around the world. This is New Zealand’s foremost whisky education and tasting event, with DramFest 2025 home to over 400 different expressions available.
The Spirit Forums
The Forums are one of the most unique parts of our event, with interviews and panel discussions with some of whisky and spirit world’s foremost experts. Hear from distillery owners, independent bottlers and more about the complex and fascinating world of whisky, from its rich and storied history to what the future might hold.
The Sessions
The DramFest Sessions are hosted by some of the world’s foremost whisky & spirit experts. These intimate tastings are a unique opportunity to sample whiskies & spirits not otherwise available at the event, and to learn first hand from the people who were involved in its creation.
Collectors Corner
Launched in DramFest 2025, The Collectors Corner is part of the Forums, an area dedicated to some of the most sought-after and rarest whiskies available in the country. Returning for DramFest 2027, we invite you to come and sample a special selection of exceptional drams, available to purchase by the glass.

DramFest was established in 2007 by Whisky Galore’s founders Michael Fraser Milne, his wife Stella and their daughter Siona.
Whisky Galore is proud to be New Zealand’s Scotch Whisky experts, situated at their store in Christchurch for over 22 years.
DramFest 2027 returns to Te Pae, situated off the Cathedral Square in Christchurch.
