Michael and Stella Fraser Milne, owners of Whisky Galore in Christchurch and Founders of DramFest.
Michael and Stella were motivated not only by a desire to spread the whisky gospel but also provide whisky enthusiasts from around the country with the opportunity to learn more about whisky and meet the people behind the brands.
The first DramFest took place in the Limes Room at the Town Hall in 2007 with just over 100 different brands represented at the event. 18 years later our 9th festival will be taking place at Te Pae, Convention Centre.

Our 9th festival is heading back to the Te Pae Convention Centre, Christchurch in 2025
Friday 28th February, Saturday 1st + Sunday 2nd March 2025
DramFest is New Zealand’s largest whisky festival, with thousands of spirit enthusiasts descending upon Christchurch every 2 years to attend. Due to the overwhelming demand of our 2023 event, we are extending our next festival to 3 days of whisky education and tasting, with an excess of 350 different whiskies and other dark spirits represented by distilleries and independent bottlers from around the globe.
DramFest is a unique opportunity to meet with overseas and local whisky experts including distillers, owners and brand ambassadors attending the event - these visiting experts are for many the highlight of the event, offering the chance to interact with those who are directly involved with the creation, selection and promotion of some of the whiskies on offer.
