A whisky festival with spirit
Held in the garden city of Ōtautahi Christchurch in Te Waipounamu the South Island of Aotearoa New Zealand, DramFest returns to the Te Pae Convention Centre over the 12th-14th March 2027 to celebrate its 10th festival.
DramFest was established by Michael and Stella Fraser Milne, founders and owners of the now iconic Christchurch institution, Whisky Galore. What began as a small showcase of beloved whisky brands for friends and family in 2007, has grown to one of the Southern Hemisphere’s largest whisky tasting and education events, spanning 3 days and attracting thousands of enthusiasts from around the Asia Pacific region.
DramFest is a rich tapestry of exhibitors, overseas guests, volunteers, and our wider whisky family who come to learn and imbibe - it is what makes this festival so special. Enthusiasts from all walks of life, coming together to celebrate something that is more than the drams on show, it is the collective camaraderie found in spirits shared.
“A heartwarming, bustling cornucopia of whiskies and fantastic people”
Dave Broom - Spirits writer and Educator
Planning is underway for DramFest’s 10th Anniversary in March 2027. We hope to bring you a special celebration to remember, but at it’s core the festival will remain true to its humble beginnings:
“The purpose is the same as the first one, just simply to let folk explore the world of whisky and meet the great people who make it, sell it, promote it. A simple formula and one we all love.”
Michael Fraser Milne - Owner and Founder of Whisky Galore and DramFest
